For boys, testosterone enanthate in a dose of 100mg given intramuscularly every month, or for girls ethinyloestradiol in a dose of 5-10┬╡g given orally each day, may be administered over these three months. This temporising allows observation to determine whether the patient spontaneously enters puberty after the therapy has ended. The course of therapy can be repeated several months after the last doses if no spontaneous pubertal development or an increase in levels of plasma sex steroids is noted.
